Graduate Pathways

The Pathways team are experienced and committed Career Practitioners with a desire to help students discover and pursue their passions. By understanding students' strengths and talents we guide them in following a learning program where they can enjoy their studies and explore their interests.

We provide support, up to date information and access to resources to help students make informed decisions in their own best interests. We build our programs with sequential progress involving students, staff and parents, fostering an environment for growth and discovery. We use careers testing to assist discussions with students from Year 10.

Students are supported in navigating the subjects to study, understanding processes and requirements for VCE, VET, Apprenticeships, School Based Traineeships, work experience, university extension subjects and employment.

Support is given to all students applying to study locally, nationally, and internationally. We also support those students interested in taking up Gap year opportunities or applying to Residential Colleges.

Liaising with local agencies and Old Xavierians we provide students with further information to enhance career knowledge and access to pathways for success. This is done at various times during the year, but highlights include our VCE course expo and Old Xaverian Career industry evenings allowing current and past students to connect. We love members of our incredible school community sharing insights, imparting knowledge and wisdom relating to their career journey and the exciting opportunities that await our students.

Interested students are currently engaged in a Design and Building Cadetship where they are a part of learning about the schools new building works. They are hearing from industry professionals about each stage of design and construction process, engaging in onsite visits, obtaining their White card and looking at work experience opportunities.

The Pathways team also offers students a chance to build on their skills by completing micro-credentials. We offer holiday programs for students to complete short courses in Barista, Food Handling, Responsible Service of Alcohol and First Aid training.

Xavier College provides students with the opportunity to tailor their VCE program to meet their individual needs and styles. Students can participate in Vocational Education and Training here, School based Traineeships here and University Extension programs.

Students can meet with a member of the pathways team at any stage of the term.
